On August 1-2, IMoSEB consultation co-chair, Michel Loreau and IMoSEB consultation Executive Secretariat representative Anne Larigauderie went to Brasil to discuss the consultative process towards an IMoSEB with representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Environment/MMA and of the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology/MCT
Following fruitful discussions, Brazil would seek to host and fund a national consultation on IMoSEB, but discussions on a new mechanism would be restricted to the CBD framework.
The consultation would take place early November 2007 at the latest, so as to have a Brazilian proposal to be discussed at the International Steering Committee meeting in November 2007, in Montpellier.
